Does the Epson Stylus S21 live up to its cheap price tag
Posted by: adminA lot of budget printers seem like a great deal but have a sting in the tail with very expensive printer ink cartridges. This is sort of the case for the Stylus S21 because the Epson S21 ink cartridges are expensive when you consider that they cost the same as the printer itself but on the other hand they are the same printer cartridges as used in a lot mid range printers and they are certainly cheaper than ink cartridges for budget printers for other brands. Build quality of the Stylus S21 is well above the average of a budget printer, the plastics feel strong and everything feel well screwed together and the machine comes with a 12 month warranty so Epson obviously have confidence in it. The prints produce by the S21 is also surprisingly good, even the photos are pin sharp with vivid colour tones tanks to its high resolution print head and four colour ink system. The S21 can print on various types of media including envelopes and photo paper of various sizes from 6×4 up to A4. A downside to this high print quality is speed, the S21 is almost painfully slow when printing photos, it takes over five minutes to print a smallest 6×4 photo. Printing text documents isn’t much better either, Epson’s official 25 pages per minute claim is not even close to the real world 7 pages per minute. It’s a real shame that the Stylus is so slow as had it been little faster it would have been cracking little printer, instead it only really suitable to people who only print occasionally, or people with a lot of patience.
